RoH News: Trades, War of the Worlds Fallout, Rumors & MORE!
August 28th, 2017: RoH Insider[/b]
Some New following the conclusion of RoH's War of the World's PPV.
- Two trades were made heading in to RoH's War of the Worlds: UK PPV:
(1) RoH has given up their rights to a free agent signing this week. Forfeiting the signing over to WWF in order to get Brandi Rhodes.
(2) RoH have traded an unnamed superstar to WCW for Austin Aries.
- The Austin Aries trade was a last minute deal struck between Eric Bischoff & Shane McMahon. Word backstage is that the RoH creative team had the majority of the PPV finished, but were forced to rewrite the ending of the Ambrose/Roode match in order to accommodate the Aries trade with an immediate debut. A rumour backstage was that Aries' part was actually written for the superstar dealt to WCW, meaning that the match ending itself was always meant to see Roode beat Ambrose with help. No word yet on who is going WCW's way, or how they will be used.
- It was revealed that Cody Rhodes was indeed the mystery superstar traded to RoH for the draft rights to Hulk Hogan as he made his long anticipated debut this past Saturday alongside his wife Brandi Rhodes and his brother Goldust, turning against The Bullet Club and solidifying themselves as faces for a promotion that has been very heel heavy lately. For those of you keeping score, the final trade between RoH and WWF was as follows:
Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes & Rey Mysterio (traded in for Rick Rude) to RoH for the draft rights to Hulk Hogan (traded in for Bret Hart) & a FA pick.
- Many fans have been vocal about the ending to Nakamura vs. Lesnar, but word is surfacing that RoH officials made the last minute call to end the match with a stoppage in order to find a way to keep the feud going without having Lesnar take the strap off of Nakamura. No word on if Lesnar will end this feud as World Champion, but there is guaranteed to be more than one match between these two in this feud.
- Pentagon, Jr. may soon find himself on the Free Agent market. Word is RoH officials are incredibly high on his talent and workmanship, but creative has struggled to find anything for Pentagon going forward. With RoH not having a free agent signing this week, rumors are beginning to swirl that Pentagon could be let go in order for RoH to make a new signing.
- Speaking of signing, RoH looks to be in talks with Charly Caruso about a full time position in the company as the new backstage announcer. RoH officials and fans were very high on her work this past Saturday and have already signed her to another appearance for this Wednesday's episode of RoH TV. Word is, an official contract could be finalised shortly.
- After many creative meetings, it was determined that RoH's next PPV will be called "Unauthorized". Expect RoH to hit the ground running this week to start getting matches in place.
- Kane is expected to make his debut with RoH this week, no word on what plans are for him going forward, but many expect Kane to see a push in his first couple months with the company.
- Ellsworth out as GM? With the recent support of both management and fans regarding Nigel McGuinness' 1 month tenure as General Manager while RoH was in London, it is rumoured that Eric Bischoff could be firing James Ellsworth on this Wednesday's RoH TV in favour of a permanent stay for Nigel McGuinness. Word is this won't effect Ellsworth's RoH contract, as he figures to be a longstanding member of Ring of Honor for a long time, even if it's not in a GM role.
